Snake bites are on the rise in Central Austin! The snakes are apparently very angry over AMD’s development plans and have decided to lash out at the meddling humans. A woman was even bitten by a rattlesnake at a Home Depot store. There are a lot of snakes in Austin, but luckily only four are venomous: rattlesnakes, copperheads, coral snakes and cottonmouths (water moccasins). The good news is that if you can get some anti-venom, you probably won’t die.
According to KEYE, here’s what you should do if you get bit:
- Get medical attention as soon as possible
- Try to see and remember the color and shape of the snake. That can help with treatment of the snakebite.
- Stay calm. This can slow down the spread of venom if the snake is poisonous.
Now for some Austin Outsider advice: Don’t fuck around with snakes. They may look cute, but they do not have a sense of humor.
