Snakes in Austin!

Snake bites are on the rise in Central Austin! The snakes are apparently very angry over AMD’s development plans and have decided to lash out at the meddling humans. A woman was even bitten by a rattlesnake at a Home Depot store. There are a lot of snakes in Austin, but luckily only four are venomous: rattlesnakes, copperheads, coral snakes and cottonmouths (water moccasins). The good news is that if you can get some anti-venom, you probably won’t die.

According to KEYE, here’s what you should do if you get bit:

  • Get medical attention as soon as possible
  • Try to see and remember the color and shape of the snake. That can help with treatment of the snakebite.
  • Stay calm. This can slow down the spread of venom if the snake is poisonous.

Now for some Austin Outsider advice: Don’t fuck around with snakes. They may look cute, but they do not have a sense of humor.
