Sure the hipsters call them graphic novels now, but we were reading Jaime Hernandez back when they were still called comic books. Jaime Hernandez is one half of Los Bros Hernandez, creators of Love and Rockets, one of the most artistically important U.S. comic books ever published. We discovered these at a very young age, mainly because there were sexy pictures of rocketships and naked punk rock girls. We later discovered that Love and Rockets was possibly the “great american novel” told in magazine sized chunks and with awesome pictures.

That is all just an overblown set up to let you know that Jaime Hernandez is coming to Austin on April 12. First up is an appearance at Austin Books where he will be signing copies of his new book Ghost of Hoppers. Following that he will be speaking at the Fourth Annual Celebration of U.S. Latino Culture which is going down at U.T.
