Any news about more condos being built anywhere in Austin is inevitably greeted by weeping and gnashing of teeth. But this is actually some condo news to get excited about: details are beginning to trickle out regarding the expansion of the South Congress favorite Hotel San Jose. Liz Lambert’s popular hotel will be spawning Annex San Jose – 77 condos that will range in price from $300K to $900K. The Annex will be situated right behind the hotel at the corner of West Gibson and South Congress Avenue. So why is this good news? If Lambert’s past enterprises are any indication, the Annex will be beautifully designed and true to the culture of its neighborhood. Based on the initial renderings, it looks like the Annex is on the right track.

Just to clarify – the San Jose Annex, while inspired by and adjacent to the Hotel San Jose, is actually a project of Winston Capital and not Liz Lambert. Neither Liz nor the Hotel San Jose will profit from the condos.
We are confident that the San Jose Annex, a collaboration between architecture firm Lake/Flato (who designed the Hotel San Jose) and Austin’s Hurt Partners, will be a positive addition to the South Congress neighborhood.
