Freaking hot

Austin is hot

Since I have only been in Austin a little over a year, I don’t feel like it’s cool for me to complain about the heat. I think it’s one of Austin’s self-defense systems to prevent the weak from moving here. So instead of bitching about it, I have decided to work on developing my heat tolerance.

If you were outside at all yesterday, you know it was freaking hot. But you may not know that the heat broke the historical record for any day in April. The unexpected heat caused electricity usage to rapidly increased and even led to mandatory blackouts in Austin and around the state yesterday afternoon.

The bad news is, it’s going to be freaking hot again today. The good news is, ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) doesn’t expect any mandatory blackouts will be necessary. But, they are still asking residents to conserve electricity between 3:00 and 7:00 today.

Rolling Blackouts and 100° Temps…

Riding home on my motorcylce yesterday afternoon felt like riding through a blow dryer — set on the hottest temperature setting.
