Birds barbershop mural

You’ve probably already heard about the soon to open Bird’s Barbershop where you can get your hair cut while listening to live music. Now, thanks to MySpace, we have a glimpse of what the inside of Bird’s is going to look like. Check out these in-progress photos of a huge 40-foot silk-screened mural that will be covering one of their walls. The mural is being created by Bryan Keplesky whose work you have probably already seen on concert posters around town.

Here’s the blank canvas:

This idea for a “rock n’ roll” barbershop sounds a lot like Floyd’s Barbershops of Denver, LA, and Maryland - and soon in TX. I guess imitiation is the most sincere form of flattery!

Bird’s doesn’t look like too much of a rip-off to me. Based on the Floyd’s website, I don’t think that kind of thing would do too well here in Austin. First off all, your logo is a cop badge? That’s not cool. Plus, Austinists hate chain stores.

Actually you are right ed, Birds may be a rock n roll barbershop but has a TOTALLY different vibe then Floyds. By the way, Floyd is a good guy, lets share the wealth theres plenty to go around. Good vibes to all!!

What kind of bands are going to play in a barbershop? Barbershop quartets? I don’t get the connection between getting my haircut and going to a concert?? I like to look hot when I go to concerts. Who looks good when they are getting their haircut?
