Austin premiere of ROOM

I’ve wanted to check out ROOM (view trailer) for quite awhile. It’s an low-budget psychological drama directed by Austin filmmaker Kyle Henry. It got great reviews and was an official selection at both Sundance and Cannes in 2005. The premiere is Thursday April 6 at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar and will be followed by a Q&A with director Kyle Henry and lead actress Cyndi Williams. Details after the jump.

Tickets are $15 for AFS members and $20 for non-members. Tickets include entry in the after party at The Apple Bar, 120 W. 5th Street. All proceeds benefit the Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund.

ROOM is a psychological drama about an over-worked woman from Texas who is haunted by psychic visions, driving her to extreme acts, which land her on the streets of New York City during the Christmas season. Cyndi Williams was nominated for a Best Female Lead Independent Spirit Award for her riveting performance.
ROOM marks the narrative feature directing debut of Kyle Henry, director of several award-winning documentaries and short films, as well as the editor of several indie pics including MANITO, THE CASSIDY KIDS and LETTERS FROM THE OTHER SIDE. ROOM had its U.S. premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and its international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival (Director’s Fortnight) in 2005. ROOM will continue at the Alamo Drafthouse South for a regular theatrical run starting Friday, April 7, with multiple daily show times TBA.
