There’s lots of cool stuff to do outside this weekend. If you’re looking for something that’s a little more high-brow than throwing cans of SPAM discus style, you might want to check out the Austin Fine Arts Festival. Here’s the official scoop:

An Austin tradition, this artfully fun and family friendly art festival is an exciting art buying opportunity! Celebrate the arts while shopping the original artwork of 220 local, national and international juried artists. Surrounding Republic Square Park in beautiful downtown, the outdoor festival also features live artist demonstrations, kid’s art activities, interactive art installations, Grammy award-winning musicians and live performances and delicious cuisine. 2006 proceeds benefit the Austin Fine Arts Alliance, Austin Museum of Art and the Blanton Museum of Art bringing the arts to Austin year-round.

Place: Republic Square Park, Downtown Austin
Time: Saturday April 1 10-5 - Sunday April 2 11-6
Cost: $8 adult, $5 student, 12 and under free

Downtown Austin serves as an urban backdrop for the 57th
Annual Austin Fine Arts Festival at Republic Square Park

WHAT: The 2007 AUSTIN FINE ARTS FESTIVAL is a two day art event featuring the juried artwork of 220 of the nation’s top visual artists, live music, artist demonstrations, local cuisine, children’s activities sponsored by Target and an interactive public art project presented by Austin Green Art. A free shuttle continuously loops to AMOA – Downtown and the Blanton Museum of Art where free admission is granted to festival attendees to enjoy the current exhibitions.

Tickets are available at the door and are $8 for adults; children 12 & under are free. Admission includes free parking at One Texas Center (located at S. 1st and Barton Springs Road) and shuttle service to the festival grounds courtesy of Carey Austin.

WHEN: Saturday, April 14, 2006; 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, April 15, 2006; 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

we are co- hosts of the mcallen ART WALK on main street.
our location is at 813 N. main st. mcallen Tx. 78501 and we wanted to invite you to participate with us, could be as galerists renting a space from us at the lobby of our business center for a whole monthh or participating at the artisan’s market for the night of the event from 6 to 10 p.m. Please call me back to give you information about this event, and the options we have. help us promote art in the valley, i know it could be far away from where you are, but we think we are forming a platform for artist in the valley and in texas.
