Austin ChronicleThe Chronicle is awesome, but there are so many pages… and so many ads… who has time? And we know you read this site while you are supposed to be working anyway. In case you don’t get the chance to lounge around in a coffee shop this week, we’ll break it down for you.

COVER: Ray Wylie Hubbard

20. Hoover: Caught in the Flash. The Chronicle weighs in on the Tamara Hoover story. Even though you’ve no doubt read about this on-line, this is a good comprehensive article. If there’s one lesson we can learn from this story, it’s don’t get into arguments with women over kilns.
21. Our favorite computer model is still going strong.

26. Travelling writer Michael Ventura stops off in Deadwood. If you’re a fan of the HBO series, you should definitely read this. It’s interesting to learn what the town is like today. I want to go there and stay in the hotel build by Seth Bullock.
28. Get ready for massive downtown growth. Experts are calling it the Tokyo Effect. Mayor Wynn has set a goal of having 25,000 people living downtown by 2015. That’s 20,000 more people than are there right now. That means, we need lots of tall buildings fast. But nothing that will obscure the view of the Capitol. City planners have their work cut out for them and you can read all about it here… complete with maps!

31. Our pals at Okay Mountain get some Chronicle love.

53. I’m obsessed with all things Deadwood right now, because I am watching the second season on DVD. So I thought this little interview with John Hawkes (who plays Sol Starr) was pretty cool. He’s also in a band called King’s Straggler which will be playing at the Hole in the Wall on Monday and at the Red Eyed Fly on Tuesday.

110. Mardi Gras Nude Modeling. This ad is in the Chronicle every week, but what the hell kind of place is this? It boasts a “Garden Type Atmosphere and Nightclub Lighting.” Does that make any sense? What kind of shady stuff goes down at a place like this?
That’s it for this week and we are really only scratching the surface, because even WE haven’t had a chance to read the whole thing yet. So pick up a copy of the the Chronicle this week. Or, even better, just hit their website and read it while you are on the clock.
